The Rotary Club of Bombay Film City was founded by a team who echoed the belief of Mr. Bertrand Russell, who said “Cultured individual is one who has acquired knowledge and skill which makes him of service to the society and habits of conduct which make him agreeable in association with his fellows.”
Working on this belief, 29 members got together and the marshalling act was effected by Mr. Yashpal Kakkar who became the 1st president of the Club. He was a Rotarian who had come from Delhi. He put all his experience and administrative acumen to lay the foundation. The Rotary International chartered the club on 21st October 1992 and the charter was presented on 7th December 1992. This charter was received within 2 months of Organizing which is a record indeed. It made history by being the 1st club to have this honor
When Mr. Kakkar had to leave abruptly on an official position to Ahemedabad, Rtn. Suhas Gadre took over. All though a successful business man in his own rights the newness of the responsibility and having to do it alone without experienced hands, he had to face some setback. When Rotarian Subhash Khatter took over, he put the house in order, especially where finances were concerned. The accounts were put in place and the diminishing kitty was once again revived.
